Propane smell inside oven

It could be simply the slight bit that comes out before it's lit.

^Agree... also with pilot burning, a leak inside oven, would also ignite, if there was one.

In any case, best not put nose/head inside oven with, or without pilot burning.

There is no smell when the pilot is first lit; it accumulates after 2-3 minutes. As long as the pilot is lit, the smell remains; it goes away after the pilot is turned off.

There is no smell at the valve ever.

Is the pilot the only thing lit, or are you cooking in the oven?

It smells with just the pilot going (though I think it also smells when the pilot is on and burner tube is lit).

If no one else has a good answer, this might be a question for youtube.

Look at the end of the pilot tube. Many have a small "deflector" it could have been hit so the pilot is not burning all the propane.

Not a problem, just a waste of propane. Not a big waste, but... We turn the pilot light on when we use the stove. It has a piezo-electric igniter so not a big deal.

Is your propane level low? If so, then the mercaptans in the propane will start to smell because it is more concentrated in the bottom of the tank. That's why both the pilot light and the burner produces an odor. Just refilling the propane tank will take care of the problem.
