I've been roasting beans on my bbq using a drum nd rotisserie for about a year now. You can't beat the quality or cost of doing it yourself, and it's not a big job. Be aware however that contrary to what you might imagine, the smell of roasting the beans smells not at all like coffee. It is only after that you've roasted the beans and they cool that you start to get that typical roasted coffee smell. During the roasting it frankly smells pretty bad and generatesbquite a bit of smoke depending on the quantity of beans and the darkness of the roast.
Great info. Can you post a picture of your setup? How do you know when you have the right level of roast, a timer?
