BBQ Lighters

They do sell child-unsafe igniters here in the woods of Northern Michigan at the dollar store, right next to the childsafe ones. Pull the trigger, three out of ten times, you get a flame.

Those things are a real pain in the patoot aren't they?:R The best solution we have found is long stem matches, just don't leave them out on the picnic table in the rain. Don't ask how I know.

They make a new type of strike anywhere match, I've been using them and they work pretty well... I don't think as well as the old ones (less initial 'zest';-)..

I find that child safety features can usually be removed with judicious application of tools.

They make some pretty good spark igniters in gun & trigger form. I HATE the liquid fuel flame lighters but the spark gun works great for the grill.

Probably the DEA. They're in the pharmaceutical business too.

I've been thinking about digging out one of my old fashioned zippo lighters for the same reason.
