Butterscotch sauce

4 tbsp salted butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

In a wide saucepan or skillet, melt butter, brown sugar and 1/4 cup of the cream, stirring until smooth.

Without stirring, let the mixture cook at a bubbling simmer for three minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in remaining cream. Let cool a bit and stir in the vanilla extract.

(I have not yet tried this.....let me know how it worked out for you.)

    LOL to the not trying yet.

    It reads like it should work fine.......much like caramel sauce. You could always add a few more tsps. of cream if it's too thick.

  • Noel's recipe is only missing the eggs from being my German Chocolate cake frosting recipe. I've been tempted to make the frosting some day even if I don't make a cake and just eat the frosting with a spoon. This should be good.
