Can we talk about LIMA BEANS, please

We lightly steamed a frozen package of baby limas last night.

Not good. Not mushy but tasted old or off at bit. Beans were not a uniform size and different shades of green.

This was a store brand, not one of the biggie brands. Can you recommend a good frozen brand of lima beans, please. Thanks.

  • We use Birds Eye brand frozen fresh baby limas and prefer them to any canned. We add onion and ham or bacon and cook till done. They are best fresh from the field. Enjoy.
  • I agree with mockturtle.....better to use canned. If you want to cut back on sodium, just rinse them off. :)
  • Lima beans are one of the few vegetables better canned than frozen, IMHO.
  • limas are not really good lightly steamed unless u like them raw. We boil ours with some fat back or bacon for 20 to 40 min to get them well cooked. for some reason lima beans are not tasty to us lightly cooked like other veggies.
