- robsouthExplorer III have been washing cast iron pans and pots with liquid dish washing soap for nearly 50 years with nary an ill result. I don't get the "don't wash it" thing. :h
- TexasShadowExplorer III do not ever use soap. I use HOT water and I pour it into the skillet while it is still hot. Let it sit for a few minutes then scrub it out with a plastic scrubber, rinse, wipe dry, spray with PAM, wipe excess off, and store. My skillet has a very smooth patina.
And no, do not put grease into your gray tank. pour off the grease and wipe out the rest. - Gadget_Guy1ExplorerIf this is a REAL CAST IRON skillet, you should never wash it unless in extreme circumstances because if you do than you need to go through the process of seasoning it again. I scrape if necessary and then wipe out with paper towel.
