I do not ever use soap. I use HOT water and I pour it into the skillet while it is still hot. Let it sit for a few minutes then scrub it out with a plastic scrubber, rinse, wipe dry, spray with PAM, wipe excess off, and store. My skillet has a very smooth patina.
