You know, after I made my comment (above), I had a craving for oven baked chicken so much, my wife and I planned chicken for Sunday lunch today. Took the chicken and squeezed the juice and some pulp from an orange and put in the inside of the chicken. Chopped onions, chicken season, and salt. Put the whole thing in an oven bag and a deep pan. Put on 250 degrees for 4 hours. Oh my!
Drained the juice, added water to the juice and boiled Amish made noodles. Boiled potatoes and made mashed potatoes. (directions for mashed potatoes: peal potatoes, boil until soft, drain. Smash, add butter or margarine, milk and salt. That's it.)
Draped the noodles over the mashed potatoes, our doggie got the liver, neck and gizzard, and that chicken was literally falling off the bones.
Clean up? real simple. Just toss the oven bag away and wash out the pan.
I'd like to thank the OP for raising this question. We haven't had chicken in a long time. Now granted, it WAS fixed in the oven at home (and not camping), but we could have done the same thing on the stove top if we would have put a lid on the pan to hold in the heat.
Wonderful lunch! Have leftover for tomorrow at work too!
