We save bacon and breakfast sausage drippings in a jar for cooking hashbrowns, new pots, scrambled and fried eggs, all other is cooled until it can be put in a plastic bag and dumped in the trash.
My Mom and Grandma saved bacon and sausage drippings too, all the other was taken to the butcher shop and rendered into baking lard. Crisco came later for baking.
Alright, I admit I was born before WWII and rationing, back then govmt thought it was okay do use lard and not many floks got clogged arteries.
