Cooking with Instant pot, love it!!!

If you haven't heard about these things...I'm not a very good cook but this thing is great.

Cooks so fast. When boondocking I plug it in when charging other stuff.
We got a "Instant Pot" and although it is new to us, it is really fun to cook with, after you understand the thing. (Its a fancy pressure cooker)BBQ is used mostly for meat, the Instant pot good for other stuff. It is elec but it cooks so fast doesn't really matter about elec use. Yesterday I made 3 pounds of pulled pork in 35 min.

Enough for 2 of us for 4 meals. Pulled pork sandwiches and then pulled pork enchiladas next day.

Wish I would of heard about them sooner. We got a 6 quart because it fits our recipes better. 4.7 out of 5 stars with almost 7,000 reviews on Amazon.

Move over dutch oven, you've got company.

  • These electric pressure cookers are much safer than the old style ones. My wife adamantly would not have a pressure cooker in the house for the first 35 years of our marriage... and then one day she asked me to buy her an Instant Pot for Christmas! She likes using it, and I like how tender the meat is.

With the old manual-style pressure cookers, the cook must monitor the pressure reading on a dial and adjust burner temperature to compensate; if the cook gets distracted and the pressure climbs, ka-pow! The Instant Pot has sensors so it monitors and adjusts itself for proper pressure, plus it has a safety relief valve that would let off pressure long before it could go pow.
  • My DW had one years ago that blew up and she will not consider one ever again.
  • Too bad my Grandma's not around to see pressure cookers coming back into style.

I do remember one time when I was little somthing happened and the pressure seal blew. She managed to debone a whole chicken. Trouble was the bones were in the pot and the rest was sprayed on the kitchen ceiling and wall. :)

Read the thread title and thought it was a post about recreational drugs in Colorado. Though I must admit, quickly cooked food could fit into a thread about that as well.

Op here... Had to laugh. We're in a senior park and neighbor who is much, much older than us was over yacking with wife. She looks at her watch and says "OH, I have to check my instant pot for dinner" She left and wife and I are staring at each other thinking...

    she's having pot for dinner?
  • I read about the Instant Pot on another thread here.

I bought one and love it too. It cooks everything fast with very little clean up. Rice and sweet potatoes is quick and easy.

Now that's an interesting tool. Got to read more on it!
  • Have 3 of them ourselves although different brands. We have a 6 quart for our rig and 8 and 6 quart for our home kitchen.
