- Jack_Diane_FreeExplorerAs far as I am concerned if you make sure you purchase AAA meat it is excellent. Great steaks and prime rib. Not that concerned about price as I will gladly pay for great meat.
- BurbManExplorer IICostco has always had premium meats, we shopped there when we lived in NY and now in Louisville. The quality is outstanding for the price you pay. The downside is that everything is "family pack" sized...For example, they have some of the nicest, thickest, juciest pork chops you will find, but they come in a 12-pack...works great if you have room in the freezer or are entertaining a large crowd for dinner.
- Super_DaveExplorerI felt a little gouged by their Christmas prime rib roast pricing as it was a couple bucks/pound higher than a lot of places but the quality is always there. I love buying my pork shoulders there, just wish they would carry some briskets. I tell people that I'd pay the membership fee just to get my meat there if I never bought a single other thing there.
- coolbreeze01ExplorerCostco has consistently good meat but more expensive and not any better than our local butcher shop.
http://www.randrqualitymeats.net/Weeklyad.html - We too like to get our meat from Costco... We have never to this point had a bad piece.. Like stated already , they are a bit higher and bulkier , but if you have the freezer room its good...
- Desert_CaptainExplorer IIII like to buy the whole sirloins, usually around 12 to 16# and then cut my own roasts and steaks. We use a FoodSaver at home to protect/preserve them in the freezer. Sirloin for around $4 a pound is a pretty good deal but unless you have the freezer space (and a FoodSaver), it is probably too much meat to handle.
:C - IAMICHABODExplorer IIThere is sometimes very good deals on meat at Costco, you just have to buy in bulk as has been mentioned and look around. I do and have a Food Saver and freeze it in smaller portions.
Here is one thing I found in 2 of the Costcos near me. While looking for a whole Brisket to smoke I found the Choice at $6.59 a pound and at the other end of the counter where the Prime meat was kept I found the whole Prime Brisket @ $3.89,they were not marked down because of the sell by date and were of about the same size about 12-14 LBS.
A deal like this I could not pass up. - phillygExplorer III can't recall ever complaining about Costco meats and the prices can't be beat in my area.
- Super_DaveExplorerI'm also a member of Sam's Club and found their meat to be pretty good too but I don't often stray from staying with Costco for my meat specific purchases.
- Cool_CanuckExplorerJust about the only place I can find Prime in the RGV. They even had an small Prime Brisket last time I was there.
