Country Ham @ Cracker Barrel

We were just in Oklahoma City yesterday and we went to Cracker Barrel and I had some real country ham and biscuits. Very yummy. The country ham wasn't quite as "stout" tasting as Waffle House's Country Ham, but it was quite legit. And you may ask...........why was this guy in Oklahoma City.........because Tanya Tucker was playing in Hinton Oklahoma and my son was playing lead guitar! Good enough reason for me to visit Tornado Alley. Loved the visit and tour of El Reno.

I find Cracker Barrel a hit or miss. But glad your experience was good!

Well, hit or miss or not, the reality is I really just wanted Country Ham and Biscuits. Anything else is for someone else! Well, actually I said I only had Country Ham and Biscuits, but in reality I had something like Paul Bunyan or John Henry with piles of food for like $9.00 and had Country Ham on the side.....then another order of Country Ham & Biscuits! Yes, I was a fatty that day!
  • Great news about your son. We have gone to Hinton many times for the shows. We stay at Red Rock Canyon State Park. Hope you had a famous Onion Burger in El Reno!
  • My son has been a lead guitar player for like 8 years. Started out blues, then the local money was classic country. So he got real good and happy with the classic country tones. Then he moved to Nashville March, 2015 and started getting his works around the network. Tanya needed a lead guitarist for two shows, one in New Braunsfeld Texas on the 29th and the one in Hinton on the 30th. So he has just done two shows for her and there is a couple scheduled with him at the end of August. I would like to see it go permanent.............

    :C
  • How long has he been playing lead?
We saw Tanya at the Ryman in Nashville last October was he lead back then?

Wow. That's something to be really proud of. A lot of work and dedication went into that.
  • While you are in the area, come on down a bit further toward Nashville and you can find some "Real" country ham. Just don't let them know where you are from, and act local. Some things are kept well hidden.
Cracker Barrel does a good job, but where you are is still a bit far for some of the local producers.
