crack in cast iron skillet
I recently bought a 10 inch cast iron chicken fryer at a flea market. As I was cleaning it up I noticed a 1 inch crack on the side wall. Can this be repaired or is it safe to use as is?

A welding shop could do a fine job repairing that crack. I weld at home, but I'm not sure I'd try to weld cast iron, especially if it was valuable to me. That said, there is a lot to the theory of "If it works, use it!"
