crack in cast iron skillet
I recently bought a 10 inch cast iron chicken fryer at a flea market. As I was cleaning it up I noticed a 1 inch crack on the side wall. Can this be repaired or is it safe to use as is?

I have welded a cast iron engine block back together. Cast iron needs to be pre-heated a d stress relieved while cooling it slowly. You need to use the proper nickel alloy rod in order to be successful.
As far as quality cast iron companies go, I like Lodge the best. It is probably cheaper to replace it than weld it.
