Crock Pot Cubed Steak with Gravy

My husband loved this easily made dinner. I added a little flour and water after I took meat out of the Crock Pot and made more gravy, so I could serve the gravy over the chops and some mashed potatoes.
Enjoy Debbie!

Crock Pot Cubed Steak with Gravy

1-1/2 to 2 lbs. beef cube steak
1/2 cup flour
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoons dry ground mustard
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 small onion, sliced
1 packet brown gravy mix
1 cup water

Mix together the flour, salt, garlic powder and ground mustard together in a bowl.
Coat cube steaks in flour mixture.
Brown in skillet in oil until brown.
Place browned steaks in crock pot.
Add sliced onion to skillet and cook a few minutes.
Stir gravy mix and water together.
Pour into skillet, scraping up the browned bits in pan.
Then pour gravy and onions over meat in crock pot and cover.
Cook on Low for 7 to 8 hours or on High for 5 to 6 hours.

    Thank you everyone!
  • I'm so glad to see you back on the forum, ol'blue (Deb). Your recipes and especially the pictures of the food always look so very good.
  • I only recently discovered how delicious chicken fried steak was - I'll have to pull out the crock pot and give this one a try; it looks simply delicious! You stated on a prior post that you thought people had forgotten you - - - the GREAT ones are never forgotten! Shortie

    Deb,
I can't envision how this retains the chicken fried steak coating after soaking in gravy for 7 - 8 hours.

It does not have that much gravy that flows over all over the meat. It is amazing how the coating stuck to the meat. My meal was over cooked even because I was waiting for my husband to get home from getting new tires on our truck. It took forever to get new tires put on his truck with a camper on so I picked a good meal. :)
