Dutch oven cobbler...with a twist

This weekend I was able to partake of some very good chocolate cherry cobbler and peach cobbler.
The chocolate cherry cobbler was made using a boxed triple chocolate cake mix, but instead of using water or milk, or whatever the box called for, Dr. Pepper was used. Once it was all mixed up, cherry pie filling was added on top, then cooked as directed.

The peach cobbler used a yellow cake and cream soda in the same way.

First time I had heard of using soda but it was delicious.
  • This weekend I used my DO for the very first time and made a peach cobbler. I just dumped a big can of sliced peaches in the DO then poured a dry yellow cake mix on top and dotted it with 1/2 stick of butter. 45 minutes later, HEAVEN!

I didn't add any extra liquid....
  • Interesting. We never add any liquid to cobbler, other than the syrup from the fruit.
  • Now where's my d.o.? This I gotta try, especially with the cream soda. Shoot, love that cream soda!
