Dutch oven recipes

Does anyone have any good recipes for cast iron Dutch oven campfire cooking?

We had some chicken and veggies that were cooked in one that was to die for. Any ideas? Sure would like the recipe.

As I understand it, Dutch oven cooking is quite complicated and a longer process but worth it.

  • We also have just gotten into DO Cooking and have really enjoyed it. We plan to attend the NDOG (National Dutch Oven Gathering) this coming September in Monticello, Iowa. The wealth of info we gathered from the last one in Arkansas was terrific and only hope this upcoming event will be as valuable. Here's the info: http://www.2014ndog.com/.

  • Here's another website that has a good forum, friendly people, and a lot of good recipes. Even a couple PDF cookbooks.

I don't think I agree about a DO being complicated. After all, it's just a pot with a lid. The surprising part is the versatility. Everything from soup to dessert. But it surely is worth it! I've only been messing with a DO for about a year and a half, and it's been a ton of fun.

    Try it, you'll like it!
