Easy ways to cut fat content.

Well, the doctor finally 'suggested' that DH loses weight. Thank you, as my suggestions were falling on deaf ears, (probably from chewing!).
Anyway, I made a pumpkin bread and told him he could have a slice, he was wondering why it was okay to eat, as he thought it would be a no-no.
Here's my trick-I eliminate the oil and whole eggs. I use canned pumpkin for the oil, (you could also use applesauce), and egg whites instead of whole eggs. I pump up the flavor with extra spices and substitute half of the water with juice.
I do the same thing with brownies, using the canned pumpkin, egg whites, cocoa powder, and coffee.
Many of you must know all this, but DH suggested that I post, as he was 'unaware' of my little tricks. Now he's suspicious! ;)
I try to avoid low-fat versions of foods as they don't bake the same,(IMO). So, I substitute. Plain yogurt for sour cream, Mustard for mayonnaise, cottage cheese for ricotta, etc.
  • Use Splenda for baking and in the sugar bowl. It substitutes directly for sugar. Go with diet soda and serve salad often with low fat dressings.

    Lay off the candy.

He will drop 30 pounds in 6 months and will not miss the sugar.
  • The wife and I have just reached the end of our second month on the 4 hour body diet. It is essentially, meat, veggies and some slow carbs (beans). My wife and I have done many advertised diets and this is the first one that is really working for my wife. She has lost 18 lbs and I've lost 14 lbs. One of the elements of the diet is that there is one cheat day per week. Since I've not wanted to be cheated on my cheat day, I'm pretty sure that's why my wife has lost 4 more pounds than I have. LOL!
  • DH eats a healthy diet-his big problem is portion-control. I try to follow a mostly grain/vegetable diet with some eggs/dairy.
I add whole grains to everything I can,( smoothies, quick breads). I use TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein), in Chili and pasta sauces. A lot of beans, too.

I have found the best way to reduce weight is to reduce the amount
of carbohydrates. I don't worry about calories. I do about 75 carbs
a meal. You can eat lots of protein (meat and cheese) and lots of
vegetables. They contain virtually no carbs. Things I stay away
from are breads, deserts, deep fat fried, pasta, soda, and chips.
There are many items they call diet or low fat, but watch the
carb counts on these, it is very surprising how many of these are
just advertising gimmicks. Good snacks are popcorn, almonds or
nuts and some fruit. And...if you like Swill, look at "Bud Select 55".

Here let me fix that for you.
