FYI-Great Price on nice cast iron piece.

Double Duty Dutch oven

I got this a couple of months ago. I love it for artisan breads. Right now, it's $30 with the Amazon free shipping. I got it at this price, too. Right after I bought mine, the price jumped up to $50 with $$ shipping. If anyone has been thinking about this piece-now's the time to grab it.
Now, if you all excuse me-we're predicted about 7-12 inches of snow. Gonna get some bread proofing!

  • We use one of these in the RV quite a bit. It can deep fry, griddle, be a lidded pot, bake bread using it upside down, and serve a an outdoor Dutch in a pinch.

  • I like to proof one, put it in the fridge to slow it down and develop flavor. I make Sourdoughs and Charles Van Over's no-knead breads. Thank Goodness, no one is gluten intolerant in this house, (yet). Stay safe and I hope the storm isn't as bad as they are predicting!
  • I've seen that, but I have a lidded DO that size. That would be my choice if not for that.
I make a 12oz flour loaf in a 2qt DO which is an 8". It's about the right size for us.
A tip that works for me, I mix a new batch of dough when I bake one. I mix it until it's fairly smooth and put it in the frig. When I need a loaf I just let if warm, punch it down, heat the oven and DO, cover and bake.

I'll trade you a predicted ice storm for your snow.:B
