Has anyone used one of the "golden grill mat"s ?

Are those things plastic? Looks like it.

We think that its great, but needs to be replaced after like 15 uses

Not sure of the particular mat, name brand, but I had a friend who was cooking halibut steaks and really liked it.

I was looking at them too, so asked her, she liked it...
I will be getting one and trying it out too..

I like it for fish and veges. No...for burgers and hot dogs.

Tried it once, didn't like it. If I remember correctly, I used it for burgers and it only served to concentrate where the grease dripped off, causing a bigger flare up than normal.

For the meal you're cooking (one of my favorites!), I'd just make a pan from foil.

Maybe you'll have better luck than I did.
