I have made both of these simple recipes numerous times, &, always, well received.
ORANGE CRUSH or ROOT BEER ice cream
2 cans Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
1 pint whipping cream
6 cans EITHER Orange Crush soda or Root Beer.
Mix sweetened condensed milk & whipping cream. Pour into a 1 1/2 gallon ice cream freezer. Add the soda pop. Process according to ice cream maker instructions. makes 1 1/2 gallon ice cream
STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE ICE CREAM
3 C. sugar
pinch of salt
4 eggs, lightly beaten
8 C. milk
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 C. mashed fresh or frozen strawberries
2 C. heavy whipping cream
In lg. mixing bowl,cream together, cream cheese & sugar. Add eggs & milk slowly, to incorporate well. add vanilla & salt. beat. Stir strawberries & cream into the mixture. Pour into a gallon and half ice cream container. Freeze according to manufacturers directions.
Makes one and a half gallons ice cream.
Had not made this for several years, & decided to make it this morning. Discovered I'd made a mistake in the size of the freezer. BOTH recipes need a gallon & a half ice cream maker.
