My knife block and the coffee maker & pot sit on the counter all the time. The toaster is put away under the sink on a shelf and the coffee butler sits in the sink when we drive. The little rubber feet on the knife block and coffeemaker keep them from moving off the counter. They might in an emergency stop but the coffeemaker is plugged into the outlet also, so the cord being plugged in would limit movement also.
