I'm interested in the NuWave induction cooker. I'm told if a magnet doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan it won't work. I have an expensive set of the Emeril Stainless Steel cookware. A magnet will not stick to the bottom. So would it be a waste of money to buy an induction cooker? :h

I thought that the proper cookware for these had some "magic" symbol on them.bumpy

magnet test is one way, but most pans, esp steel (stainless) have a COPPER clad core, which works with the induction cooker as well.Bumpy's right too, magic symbol, pan should have some waves / circles stamped in it

Sez Hoo, You are correct. If a magnet doesn't stick to the bottom it will not work on an induction burner. I took a magnet with me when shopping for cookware. Some cookware does have the symbol on the bottom but cast iron does not and it works great on induction.

The one I have has a chain and hook hanging from the center. I bought a Weber grill and some chain from Home Depot and it hangs from the hook with 3 pieces of the chain.
when we were allowed we set up something similar in Iraq. We staged our own chili cook offs usually with goat meat. Different.

Another option is a tripod. I have one made by Lodge and it works reasonably well. I wouldn't compare it to the above or recommend it in place of, but it does store easy and allow grilling over coals or fire.

X2. Firepit cooking has the best flavor especially when hickory or mesquite wood is used. Need to get me a swing arm rig small enough for our class B.

Those firepit photos are truly fit for consumption! I have a similar swing arm rig for grilling and it also has a cross bar from which I hang my Dutch Ovens. The entire cooking rig folds up into a 4 inch by 24 inch set of uprights with the square grill sliding out of sight in one of the basement compartments. All total the rig weighs about 5 lbs.

I have a Max Burton and really don't use it much because the spot that heats is so small. If I cooked with 4" pans it would be awesome!
So in the camper I just use the stove top or cook outside on the fire or smokey joe.

I live in a highrise so spend a lot of the winter dreaming of new techniques and recipes to try out on the Weber and firepit during the warmer months. You've some lovely memories and good eats based on your photos and looks like you do quite a bit of sharing as well:).

Your NuWave photos reminded me a woman who is exploring the world's cuisines in her RV and blogs about it. Last time I looked she was considering Latvian foods.

No RV yet. Still cooking and freezing for tent camping and home. When I get to the camp-site it's the Weber, Coleman white gas stove, and/or firepit. Not looking forward to cooking within the soon to come RV.

We still try and duplicate the following as cooking on a campfire is still the best.

Sorry no blog on the cooking..many good memories and photos though.
