- 2hamsExplorerI saw a box of cooking tomatoes at a produce stand in FL for just $10. Next winter will bring basil, oregano and parsley to make sauce. Yum!

We cheat! Prego out of a jar... Instead of hamburger, use sausage, add a touch of garlic and call it "Italian!"
We cheat, too. I use hamburger, cut up Italian sausage, onions and Traditional Ragu Spaghetti Sauce. Sometimes I add a little red wine to it.
I use Johnsonville Hot Italian sausage, 2-32 oz. Ragu Spaghetti Sauce w/meat sauce or mushrooms, 1-16 oz. tomatoe paste, 1 can of mushrooms stems/pcs., one onion diced and browned when I cook the sausage and various spices. I make a large batch and freeze the rest for when we travel. - NYCgrrlExplorer

I found a great lasts long deal on basil at a CT supermarket summer past:
long lasting fresh herbs
I plan to purchase other products in the line if they have availability next summer.
