They are fine on a gas cooktop, but if you use them on a glass or coil cooktop, you need the little wire gizmo that keeps them from sitting directly on the element. I have a Pyrex coffee pot in the trailer that has been in use since about 1965. No problems with it. I also use a Pyrex double boiler in the house, but would not set it directly on the stove.
