It's the tempered glass bakeware that you shouldn't put atop the stove. Been using some of my Pyrex bakeware AND Corningware pots (used to be the same company)for at least 30 years and none ever shattered on me. I did make a clafouti (twas my fav dish for that dessert...sigh) in a 1940's era Fire King oval casserole that split in the oven one day but still dinna shatter.
