I should also point out, if it hasn't been already, that the lid on the combo is flat. While it doesn't have a lip, briquettes can be put on it, it's just hard to keep them there if you need to look. I've done cobbler in mine using a lid stand under and placing briquettes on top, but I know exactly how long it takes.
