Looking for a propane powered crock pot.

I have the Coleman one. Originally they called it a slow cooker, then it appears they changed the name to 6 quart potable propane cooker because it cooked way too hot to be a slow cooker. Then it appears they quit selling it. People liked it for actually cooking in as a huge heated pot, but they didn't dare leave it to "slow cook" for a couple of hours let alone 6 - 8 hours like you can with an electric slow cooker.

Does anyone know of another make of a true propane slow cooker that can go 6 - 8 hours like an electric one?

  • We have a Lance 1685 travel trailer and a sailboat ... and I would enjoy a slow cooker in both ... but don't want to leave electricity running while we're gone. Here's some information from my sailing blog that features a low fat slow cooker lasagna recipe as well as alternatives to an electric crock pot. We're still vascillating on which slow cooker to buy, but after hiking 16 miles in Glacier last summer, all I wanted was dinner ... not to have to COOK dinner!

    Dinner Cooks Itself, Thermal Cookers

I just need to make a decision and BUY one!
  • It looks like the Thermal Cookware would be great for keeping the meal hot after I've cooked it, but I need to get it cooked first.

I would be tent camping with propane for the cook stove. And I have a Honda 2000 generator, but besides being noisy, I wouldn't consider it efficient to leave running for 6 - 8 hours to just power a crock pot. As far as I can tell a crock pot running on propane would be the best way to have a hot meal ready and waiting 6 - 8 hours later when I get back - if such a thing exists.

    Thanks,
