Camping is almost the only time of the year I eat red meat in abundance. For me that means a 2" porterhouse house steak for two or three persons once in 14 days; more frankfurters and burgers (home ground meat) than I should feel comfy eating throughout the year and the occasional beef roast (salt crusted is a personal fav). I make up for this "extravagant" behavior by starting an upgraded exercise regime 2 weeks before the trip begins and maintaining that level of physical busyness during the length of my vacation. I also maintain my at home routine of starting a meal with vegetable based appetizers. I find it a good way to keep my meat intake down.
