Mississippi Roast

I don't know if this recipe was ever posted here but I came across it and it sounded easy to make with just a few ingredients.

Mississippi Roast

3-4 lb Chuck roast
1 Hidden Valley Ranch packet
1 McCormick Au Jus mix
1 Stick butter
5 peperoncinis peppers, whole

Place roast in slow cooker, sprinkle ranch packet over the roast, adding McCormick Au Jus mix, a stick of butter, and the peperoncinis on top of the roast. Do not add any water. Cook on low for 7-8 hours.

  • Have to try this one, thanks for posting. It looks awesome!
  • Does anyone know if this could be adapted for a pressure cooker?

I just saw one for a pressure cooker, almost identical. It added about 16 ounces of beef broth along with the packets but omitted the butter.
  • We've made it twice now and it's become our go to slow cooker roast recipe. Everyone loves it.
  • I made it the othe day and maybe it was the mixes I used, but I found it very salty. It was very good though.
  • Yes, I saw that posted here a few months ago. Thanks for the reminder; need to try this.
  • I tried this recipe while at the Atlanta Ralley. I have to say it was one great recipe, so good I cooked a second Mississippi Roast 5 days later. Yes its been posted before.
