Moving Tonque Jack

I have an electric tongue jack that is mounted in the normal location on the trailer tonque & it is in the way of an item that will be out the back of the pickup. I am thinking about moving it closer to the trailer body & using a jack release mount when hooking & unhooking the trailer. I plan to make a new plate for the release mount & mount it to the "A" frame just closer to the trailer.
Looking for some input from members as to the pro's & con's of this idea.
  • The only issue of concern would be the jack travel length. Your tongue won't get very high by moving it back closer to the trailer.

Actually the tongue will lift more with the jack closer to the axel.
  • No problem! Less actual load on the jack and as Yaj said more vertical travel of the ball location.

Uh, I think this thread needs to be moved.

Here was me thinking this was a new cuisine using beef tongue since OP put it in Camp Cooks and Connoisseurs section. :b
  • I was thinking some kind of tongue plus jack cheese recipe.....
  • Thanks for all the input & sorry for posting this in the wrong forum. I ask the moderator to move it, after I realized I had screwed up.
