I agree. There are times that they have to be washed with soap and this would be one of them. the idea of not using soap is two fold. First you remove the very light coat of oil that becomes the next layer of seasoning, and second you risk the seasoning picking up some soap.
In this case I think you need to rid the pan of any unwanted material and then send it through the oven a couple of times to get another layer of seasoning started.
