We have the 22 inch blackstone with the lid and stand The blackstone has rubber feet on the bottom and are designed to be used sitting on a table. Mine does not get hot on the bottom.
The griddle and the stand are great, I suggest you look at getting the stand also.
We use our blackstone for everything and I sold my coleman grill.
