I've never seen an aged cast iron pan, but I'm pretty sure the new Wally World one leaves a lot to be desired.
I am not advocating ruining a "good" piece of cast iron. The new stuff has some major rough edges (i.e. lumps) at the edges that I am sure can only be smoothed by sanding. If it was welded I'd say it looked like slag. I know that the "textured" surface of the pan will get better/smoother with age, but I was wondering if anyone smoothed out the rest with a sander.
No harm, I am using the pan and still like it. Now I will keep my eyes open for old cast iron stuff. Thanks again.
