My CI we use for camping is stowed under one of the dinette seats in an open plastic milk crate. It's drier there than the outside basement areas. Inside is not only better, but the iron can safely 'breathe' in the crate which has open sides.
I put newspaper on the bottom of the crate and 3 pages of newspaper on top of the pot then the lid on top of that. The top news paper keeps the lid from rattling in transit.
The newspaper also absorbs humidity and moisture. If a little rust forms that can be expected for long term storage. If a lot of rust forms then the place where it's stored and the seasoning of the pot should be improved. A well seasoned pot in a dry storage area won't develop rust.
We use the CI in the mh and in the home kitchen. The DOs with the lid lip we camp with.

One thing I have wondered is how do you guys & girls store your ci cookware? I have read to layer paper towel, towels, paper bags, etc between pieces to prevent trapping moisture.
We do most of our cooking outside so I considered a rubbermaid tub or case ( maybe homebuilt?) to store the ci in, then just pull the tub out of the trailer and set it by the grill/ stove so it's handy. Just concerned the rubbermaid tub may trap moisture. Any thoughts?
Let me guess, use it at home as well? Wife recently bought a new set of pots & pans with the ceramic coating, so not sure I could hang the ci in place of it! Lol
Just gets tiring when you need to run back in the tt to grab "that other pan"
TY!
