New wave induction cooking

Just thought I would post a quickie on our Induction Cooker. It works great with cast iron skillets steel pans and is very efficient compared to electric grills and microwaves. The max amps it took was 10A compared to the microwave at 15A. We also have a steel kettle for heating water and its very quick.

Only downside is it does not heat aluminium. We had to take a magnet to check pans when buying to make sure they were iron or steel.

Anyone else using them?

  • For someone just stocking a new RV and wants to go with induction, Magma makes an induction compatible "nesting" set of pots and pans that although not cheap, take up little space.
  • We use Dutch Ovens on the campfire. Between that and the propane stove, we've seen no need to get another cooktop: induction would be redundant.

For those living in apartments and dorms, the induction would be good for singles and couples. I just don't have a use for them with our entertaining and camping lifestyle.
  • I'm considering one, but didn't take the plunge yet.
    Thanks for the update.
