I second Leo's thoughts, Debbie. Hope you can get other opinions in one of the major medical centers. Our son lives in Denver, was set for surgery there, we went up to Denver to go to Dr. with him as he was young and single, liked the surgeon and surgery was scheduled. As soon as I got back to San Antonio, I called Mayo Clinic and got him in with a research physician there. We got in about 3 weeks later and he confirmed that surgery was indeed in order, BUT Mayo could do the entire procedure laparoscopically. That was on a Monday, our son was in surgery on Thursday and is doing well . Recovery was much faster than traditional surgery. That was in '05. This is just an example of how different medical care can be in a place that specializes in certain problems.
