When I was young my mom bought her hot dogs from a local wholesale meat place.
She always bought them with "Skins on," which I take to be a casing of some type. Best hot dogs in the world.
Does anyone know of a commercial variety of dogs that I can buy in a supermarket that would be the same? All I ever see are "skinless."
Thanks from a food lover.
I don't know what part of the country you are in but Himmel's sell skin and skinless dogs. Should you be near any ethnic German or possibly Scandinavian communities a butcher there would prolly have "franks with skin".
HTH!
Thanks for your response.
When I was young it was in the northeast. Now that we are retired, we travel all over the states. I will start looking for that type of shop.
