Works well- and FYI:
You can still buy packs of brown paper "lunch bags" at most grocery stores. They fit pie irons perfectly, and a twist-tie or rubber band will hold in place. Also works for metal hot dog sticks and other firepit tools.
I keep a pack of those bags in the trailer because they're very handy for many purposes. Fresh vegetables, for example, will keep very well if placed in a wet brown bag and stored where air can circulate. They also fold into excellent packets for grillsteaming fish and other delicacies, provided of course they're wetted and not placed directly over flames.
