Cut up Eckrich smoked sausage - brown in a pan, pour off the grease and add it to the beans. Add onion if you wish, brown sugar until it tastes slightly sweet and a small bit of mustard (maybe a half teaspoon) and about 1/8 cup of ketchup. Stir together and bake. I add the sugar and condiments to taste, and of course it will depend on what size can of beans you are using.
