I have a BGE at home, and have really dialed it in over the last year. I have a LPG grill that is in the trailer because it is so much easeri, and was mentioned, I don't have to worry about any fire bans.
It will be interesting to see how food tastes going from the egg to propane this summer. Maybe I need to buy an BGE for camping as well.
Same here. We love our BGE at home, but I wouldn't want to try carrying a little one. Would hate for it to break during transport. Whether it's the top or the bottom, I've been told it's half the cost of a whole new one to replace either one. And I wouldn't want to deal with the weight.
With that said, we bought a weber q a couple years ago. Wouldn't fit in our TT storage (too tall). After a year of that, we started using a portable Ducane grill/stove my in laws passed down to us. It worked good and stored in the TT. We used and still use the weber q on the back porch when we don't have time for the BGE. Last year when we got the motorhome, I bought a Coleman roadtrip. It works well but takes a lot of room. When we are camping we are usually busy doing other stuff and we just use propane. When we have time, we usually do something with the dutch oven. Also depends on where we are camping.
