Exactly what I was going to suggest. Wood fire is absolutely the best for grilling your food bare, that is, not in foil or a frypan. Nothing else is like that smokey flavor. Charcoal is nice to have along as well, as a fuel for the camp Dutch oven, or to use as a base under your wood fire to make sure you don't run out of heat before the food is done. Then if you have a gas grill for backup in case of poor weather or just in a hurry, you should be golden.
