Does making up a foil packet dinner, freezing it, vacuum sealing it, then throwing it in my fridge for the trip make sense?
You can make a foil packet and freeze it minus the vacuum sealing and it'll be good for several months. I made all the hobo packs and foil packets for my summer camping trips between Jan. and April of this year. I use indirect heat to bake, and heat up premade goodies on my charcoal grill. Just bank the coals to one side, place your food on the cold side and shut the lid. Actually to bake you can put the bread in between 2 zones of coals.
