- MerrykaliaExplorerSorry, double post
- MerrykaliaExplorerI have been wracking my brain to remember some of the things we have done in the pie irons. I mentioned a few above, but another we did that was really good was to take some canned biscuits and cut them in half and flatten, spray one side and put one on the pie iron and then spoon in 1 good TBL of cream of chicken soup mixed with some frozen mixed veggies (think chicken pot pie). Cover with remaining flattened biscuit and use a fork to smash the edges together, put over the fire to bake.
We had some oozing, but it was still really good. - wowens79Explorer IIIWe did some little mini frozen tater tots, and added onion, green pepper, bacon crumbled, and grated cheese. It was awesome!!!
- doxiemom11Explorer IIHow about using frozen waffles for the bread and either fill with desert stuff, or breakfast stuff. Saw one today that was the precooked strips of bacon, cheese and egg inside plain waffles.
- ravExplorerwe would do pie irons for our camping club cook outs.
we had filling for pizza, tacos, mushrooms, onions, peppers, cheeses, lunch meats
all kinds of bread from white, sour dough, multi grain and biscuits.
desserts were pie fillings, cream cheese, chocolate, marshmellows, etc
we used bread, pie dough
our rule was to cut it into quarters and share -
the is no limit to what you can do- enjoy - happynowExplorerIn addition to above, we have cooked the canned Cinnamon Rolls. Crescent rolls work great to make pizza pockets, fruit pies eyc. Kids loved it.
- MerrykaliaExplorerWe have also done our s'mores in the pie irons. Put everything in, toast over the fire.
- Ron3rdExplorer IIIThanks for the good ideas, we've never used pie irons before and want to give it a try!
