- bcsdguyExplorerTry slitting the casing lengthwise and peel it off and then cut them in little rings. Now fry them before putting them in the soup. They should hold together. This is just my suggestion. Others may have better ways to do this.

This works reasonably well.
Thaw it enough so that the outside is soft to get the casing off, then re-freeze it to firm and slice with a sharp knife. Then fry them and add to the soup. - NYCgrrlExplorerThe casing will remove easily when the sausage ring is still refrigerator cold and agreeing that a length long slit does it nicely.
The cold case-less sliced meat will keep it's shape when placed on the pan. - 5thwheeleroldmaExplorerThanks, will try that. I took a frozen sausage, boiled it briefly, then tried to remove casing. Worked, but not very well. Bet you are right, frying the "coins" of sausage might make them hold shape.
