Pizza was my favorite as an evening snack as a youngster. Little sauce, some cheese & a pepperoni or two. Loved em.
Pie filling works great. Any pie will do for me.

Have seen people use them to cook an egg, and just about anything else you can fit in a tiny skillet.
I think that only a ROUND maker should be called a PIE iron. Seals the bread, makes a pie. Square irons are SANDWICH makers. Makes a nice warm samiche.
Manufactures disagree....call any two skillets on a stick---pie irons.
Have one of each....both cast iron. Not a fan of aluminum irons.
