I have had a salad shooter for over 10 years, don't use it every day or even every week, but it is great for some things. I use it to slice potatoes and carrots when I am teaching foil pack cooking to Scouts and Scout leaders. (Even slices make the food cook more evenly.. and boys take forever to cut even one potato into slices.) It also works great for making relish. Used it several years ago making pear relish and it shredded the pears in no time. The pears were so hard, that just peeling them gave me blisters, but they went straight through the salad shooter, easy peasy. Made great relish by having shreds even. I think I will have to find a way to carry it when I full time.
