Seasoning Coleman NXT Griddle

I have a question about seasoning my griddle top. I have a Coleman NXT 200 with the optional griddle top. It lists the surface as being "non-stick porcelain coated". Eggs stick to it terribly, even when greased well.

Would seasoning the griddle work? Not sure about that porcelain coating. Planning on covering in vegetable oil lightly and baking at hour at 350.

Any insight?
  • I'm lost for an answer. Could it be possible you are getting it too hot for eggs? I don't know that you can really season porcelain. My porcelain dutch ovens only stick when I have it unbearably hot. I hope someone has a solution for you!
  • "Seasoning " refers to infusing oil into POROUS cast iron.
    Your griddle won't "season "
We use PAM spray for grills on ours with success.
    Good Luck, Mike

    This.
  • I agree it won't season. I would treat it like SS, use a spray or oil and make sure it is up to temperature before using it. Eggs are tough though and nothing sticks like egg whites.
  • Sounds like the heat is way too high. When cooking with cast iron, I usually heat a small (#3) skillet with a little oil until it starts to smoke. I remove the heat, add the eggs and let them cook. The retained heat in the pan is enough to cook the eggs.

On enameled ware, try using "Pan Release". It's a spray used in bakeries to keep bread from sticking. It has a high smoke temp, but leaves little residue. Clean up easy with a paper towel.
