The OP's recipe is very similar to one I've used for several years and it works great. It's the only way I will make roast in the slow cooker.
CROCK POT ROAST TO DIE FOR:
1 (4 -5 lb) beef roast , any kind (your favorite)
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package brown gravy mix , dry
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package dried Italian salad dressing mix
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package ranch dressing mix, dry
1/2 cup water
Directions:
1. Place beef roast in crock pot.
2. Mix the dried mixes together in a bowl and sprinkle over the roast.
3. Pour the water around the roast.
4. Cook on low for 7-9 hours.
Ron...the original post had all the dry goods mixed into the water... your method just adds the dry mixes over the roast and lets the cooking do the rest. Correct?
Harley Dude,
You can do it either way I guess, we just dump the dry mixes over the meat and wash it down by pouring the water over the roast. Works for us. You can mix if you want, don't see how that could hurt anything; might help!
We got the original idea here a few years ago:
