I don't understand the animosity of those who don't see this method as working for themselves. Why comment at all? Just skip it! i see plenty here that doesn't appeal to me (mostly the can of this, box of that method, or the "recipe dumps" where people post hundreds of recipes but don't really interact). I just pass it by, I don't say, "oh I hate that", or "you're wrong", or "why are you posting". And yes this is an RV-oriented site, but plenty of people scan recipes for home use.
My son and DIL have a SV cooker, and they have also rigged one up with a cooler and thermometer for impromptu SV. The results were delicious. Easy to do. Steak was medium ( my preference) with a lovely sear on the outside, it was butter tender, which sometimes does not happen cooking just on the grill. that being said, I don't eat steak enough to warrant one. But it would have worked fine in my RV.
Many cooking practices open the door for food contamination and spoilage, everyone should be safe with whatever method they use.
And life is too short to get your panties in a bunch over a cooking method! No need to keep arguing after you post your objection, no need to "have the last word"!
Peace (and tender steak) be with you!
